StarCraft Ghost Costume - Handgun Progress

Description

I'm totally taking the easy road on this part of the costume. This is a martial arts "red gun". That is to say, it is a rubber dummy used for training. This is my backup weapon in case my rifle is somehow not allowed into the convention center for BlizzCon.

Stuffs Used:
-1 Red Gun
-Dremel Tool
-Sandpaper
-X-Acto Knife
-Plastic Primer
-Black Paint
-Metallic Pens

Stuffs Done:
-Clean Up and Details
You can't see it in the photos, but I did a lot of clean up work on the gun with the knife and Dremel. I removed casting seams, sharpened details, added grooves, fixed the rear sites, etc.
-Screw Up and Fixing
After sanding the entire thing to help it stick, I tried using regular primer. It promptly scraped off, and the sanding left the rubber fuzzy anyway, so neither approach worked. I ended up scraping all the primer off with the knife, which actually removed the sanding fuzz and left a really nice satin finish. I washed off the primer remnants with gasoline. Then I got some primer made for plastic. That seems to work better.
-Painting and Finishing
After painting the whole thing black (except for the red tip, because that's a felon or some such), I started coloring and weathering with metallic pens. They don't seem to be sticking too well, despite being "permanent", so I may resort to spraying on a clear coat to seal it.

Stuffs Yet to Be Done (Maybe):
-I would like to add lights and additional features to make this look more sci-fi and less, "Oh, that's a Beretta M-9." But I'm not doing any of that until the rest of the costume is finished, because I'll probably use this weapon very little if my rifle comes through.
